Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a Redway man last night after he used a Vodka bottle to assault another man. At about 9:00 p.m. deputies were dispatched to a report of a physical fight in progress at Redway Beach. When they arrived they contacted Larry Dale Kirk, 33, who was bleeding heavily from his head. Medical personnel were called to attend to Kirk while deputies continued their investigation. They learned that Kirk and some friends had gathered at the river and had been drinking alcoholic beverages. An argument followed and escalated until the suspect, identified only as “Mike”, struck Kirk several times in the head with a bottle. Kirk was able to leave the area and call for help. After calling, he returned to the river, where his bus was parked. He reported finding some clothing smoldering inside his bus. The smoldering clothing was extinguished by fire personnel and there appeared to be no damage to the bus. The suspect had fled the scene prior to law enforcement’s arrival. Kirk was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Deputies searched the area for “Mike” and located Michael David Guglielmini, 28 and transient, in a field in Redway. The deputies saw that Guglielmini had dried blood on his hands, forearms, and pants. When asked about the blood, Guglielmini told deputies he had been in a fight at the river. Deputies arrest him and transported him to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility. He was booked for assault with a deadly weapon and public intoxication. His bail was set at $50,000. Kirk was treated for a scalp laceration the required sutures.
