Two people were arraigned Friday for the murder of Jack Sovereign who was killed June 1, 2010 in Eureka. Ryan Anthony Salas 24 of Arcata, and Katrina Lanai Inong, 27 of Hoopa, appeared in Superior Court Friday, each charged with murder. Humboldt County Sheriff’s Detectives have obtained an arrest warrant for a third suspect, Nathan “Sonny” Nix, 40 of Hoopa. Nix is currently in custody with the California Department of Corrections, having been arrested for a parole violation June 30, 2010. He will be transported back to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility to the murder charge.
The victim, Jack Sovereign, was murdered in front of a residence on Santa Clara Street in Eureka during the early morning hours of June 1, 2010. Sheriff’s Detectives have been investigating the case by interviewing witnesses and collecting and viewing surveillance videos. The murder weapon — and additional evidence — was recovered from a wooded area near Myrtle Ave. and Mitchell Road, Eureka. Detectives do not anticipate additional arrests in this case.
