This morning, Thursday, August 19, 2010, a man working on property owned by the Humboldt Redwood Company was fatally injured in a logging accident. The accident occurred approximately six miles south of Cummings Road, near CA SR 36, south of the Van Duzen River. The location of the accident was accessible only via helicopter or by all-terrain vehicle (ATV).
EMS workers responded to the accident site. However, the victim did not survive the injury and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office and the Humboldt County Coroner’s Officer also responded; notification of the industrial accident was made to Cal/OSHA officials in Redding.
The victim was a 33-year-old male who resided outside of California. His identity is being withheld pending notification of his next of kin.
