Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 6300 block of Longview Rd. in Eureka early yesterday morning after receiving a report that a man had been assaulted there. Deputies arrived at the residence at shortly after 1:00 a.m. and found a man bleeding from his head. Deputies learned that the victim, a 41-year-old Eureka man, had been at the residence when four men arrived and assaulted him. The four suspects struck the victim in the head with blunt objects. The victim sustained a significant head injury and, after being stabilized at a local hospital, was flown to a hospital out of the area.
Sheriff’s Detectives obtained and served a search warrant for the residence and vehicles there. Evidence Technicians collected evidence at the scene. At about 9:00 p.m. last evening, Detectives arrested Jason Jolly, 33 of McKinleyville in connection with the assault. Jolly was booked for one count of attempted murder. His bail was set at $500,000 and he is expected to be arraigned by Wednesday.
Detectives are looking for the three outstanding suspects in the assault. Detectives have identified Mario Marcel Garcia as one suspect. Garcia is an adult Hispanic male, 30 years old, from Eureka. He is 6’ tall and weighs about 160 pounds. He has brown eyes and black hair that is usually worn cropped short. He has several tattoos, including “GARCIA” on his back, the Roman numeral “X” on his right forearm, and the number “8” on his left forearm.
