Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested an Arcata man yesterday afternoon after receiving a report that the man had stolen a car from a McKinleyville car dealership. At about 2:30 p.m. a “be on the lookout” was issued for the car with the added information that it was last scene traveling eastbound on Heartwood Drive in McKinleyville. A sheriff’s deputy was driving on SR 299 and anticipated that the driver could travel from Heartwood Dr., to Sutter Rd., to Azalea Ave. to North Bank Rd. The deputy drove to North Bank Rd. and spotted the stolen car a short time later. The driver of the stolen vehicle, Roy Leon Moran, 37, took the SR 299 westbound on-ramp. The deputy initiated a traffic stop and Moran yielded. Moran was taken into custody without incident.
Moran was booked for auto theft, possession of stolen property, and a parole violation.
The dealership reported that Moran had initially arrived at the business to apply for a job.
