Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputies have arrested two men in two separate cases of indecent exposure. Last Thursday, deputies arrested Dennis Wayne Barnes, 45 of McKinleyville, after witnesses reported that he had exposed himself to them. Then yesterday, deputies arrested Bobby Lee Ganfield, 31 of McKinleyville, after a woman identified him as having exposed himself to her.
In the first arrest, witnesses reported seeing Barnes expose himself indecently near a market on School Road in McKinleyville. Witnesses noted that they were especially concerned because there were two children playing nearby. Deputies located Barnes behind a small bush and arrested him.
In the second arrest, a woman was jogging on the Hammond Trail yesterday when she passed a man who was exposing himself. She told deputies that she first believed the man was urinating but then realized he was intentionally exposing himself to her. Deputies found Ganfield walking on the trail and arrested him.
Barnes was booked for indecent exposure and a parole violation. Ganfield was booked for indecent exposure. In both arrests, witnesses identified the suspects. Both men have previous convictions for indecent exposure.
The Sheriff’s Office received an earlier report of indecent exposure at Hiller Park on October 9, 2009. Deputies are working to determine if either suspect was involved in that incident.
