On 12-9-2011, 12:15 p.m. Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputies and Humboldt County Drug Task Force Agents served a Humboldt County Superior Court Search Warrant in the 3400 block of D Street, Hydesville. Deputies found no one was home, but located 158 growing marijuana plants, two to three feet in height in an approximate 20’ by 40’ structure built behind the residence, and a shotgun inside the residence. After securing the residence deputies called the Humboldt County Building Department and Pacific Gas and Electric Company. Both agencies responded to the scene. The building department determined the grow structure was an unpermitted building. Pacific Gas and Electric examined the electrical system which included thirteen 1000 watt Halide Light Bulbs and determined the electrical supply was unsafe and pulled the homes electrical meter.
The homeowner, Jack Benjamin Parvis, 22 years old arrived on scene and claimed it was a medical marijuana growing operation. Deputies however determined it was a commercial marijuana growing operation that did not fall into the guidelines of medical marijuana based upon evidence located at the scene and Parvis’ statements to the deputies. Parvis was arrested for cultivation of marijuana, and possession for sale of marijuana and transported to the Humboldt County Correctional facility where he was booked. His bail was set at $25,000.00.
