Location: Ferndale

On 09-09-2003 at approximately 1:00 p.m. the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit served a search warrant at a building located off Oeschger Lane, Ferndale. At this location, Deputies located an indoor marijuana growing operation that contained 187 growing marijuana plants that ranged in size from 12 inches to 24 inches.

Deputies contacted the suspect in this case, who was identified as Joseph Anthony Koches Jr. age 30. Through their investigation, Deputies learned that Joseph Koches lived at a residence off Pleasant Avenue, Eureka. Deputies then searched Joseph Koches residence in Eureka where they discovered a second indoor marijuana growing operation. Deputies seized 19 growing marijuana plants from inside of Koches residence that were approximately 3 feet in height each. Deputies seized two shotguns and one rifle from the residence.

Deputies arrested Joseph Anthony Koches Jr. for cultivation and possession for sales of marijuana.

This case is still under investigation.
