Subject: Theft arrest
Contact: Lt. Steve Knight
Case No#: 201202919
Released By: Lt. Steve Knight

Location: Kneeland

On 06-14-2012, approximately 12:30 p.m. a citizen was driving by his family’s property on Kneeland Road, approximately ½ mile from Bridgeville, when he noticed a 1961 multicolored flatbed truck pulling a trailer parked on Kneeland Road, loaded with scrap metal. The citizen saw that the scrap metal had been stolen from his families’ property. The citizen pulled over and obtained the license plate to notify law enforcement. When doing so, the citizen heard male voices yelling at him telling him to go away and the suspects threw an object at his vehicle, possibly a rock, causing his windshield to shatter. The citizen left the area and called law enforcement. Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the area.
The citizen stayed at a safe distance while the deputies were enroute and watched the vehicle, which then left the area. The citizen notified Sheriff’s dispatch of the vehicles direction of travel. A deputy saw the vehicle on State Route Highway 36, mile marker 22, and initiated a traffic stop. A second deputy soon joined the first deputy. The citizen responded and identified the stolen property. Both suspects were arrested; they were identified as Michael Donavan Lourenzo, 47 years old, from Fortuna, and James Thomas Dixon, 54 years old from Fortuna. They were booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on charges of grand theft, and possession of stolen property. Dixon was also charged with possession of an unlawful weapon. Lourenzo’s bail is $35,000.00 and Dixon’s bail is $50,000.00.
