On 10-02-2003 at approximately 0800 hours the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit served a search warrant at a residence located off Crockett Crossing Road, Fieldbrook. Deputies located an indoor and outdoor marijuana growing operation on the property which contained 88 marijuana plants. Deputies located evidence inside of the garage that marijuana hash was being manufacture on the property. Deputies seized 102 pounds of dried marijuana and ½ of a pound of manufactured hash from the residence.
When Deputies served the search warrant they located Rachel McFarland age 24 inside of the residence along with her 5 year old daughter. When Deputies searched the residence they located approximately 5 pounds of marijuana drying inside of her daughter’s playroom.
Deputies contacted Humboldt County Child Welfare Services, who placed the child into protective custody. Rachel McFarland was arrested and transported to the Humboldt County jail where she was booked for Child Endangerment, Cultivation and Possession for sales of marijuana. Rachel McFarland’s bail has been set at $ 50,000 dollars.
Deputies have identified a second subject in this case as Jevon Barnes age 26, who was not at home when the search warrant was served. Deputies will request at warrant for Barnes arrest through the Humboldt County District Attorney’s Office for Child Endangerment, Cultivation and Possession for sales of marijuana.
