On 01-06-2013, approximately 6:45 p.m. the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a residential burglary that occurred in the 2100 block of Babler Road, McKinleyville. When a deputy arrived he met with the home owner. The home owner told the deputy they had been away from their home that afternoon, and when they returned unknown suspect (s) had entered their home through an unlocked back door and stole numerous items from their residence, including but not limited to jewelry, electronics, cash, food and a computer. The estimated loss was close to $10,000.00.
On 01-07-2013, approximately 8:00 a.m. a deputy was patrolling in the 200 block of Stevens Way, McKinleyville when the deputy saw an older model Mitsubishi Trooper parked with expired vehicle registration and male in the car. The deputy made contact with the male who identified himself as Daniel Christie, 36 years old from McKinleyville. A warrant check on Christie revealed he was on probation for possession of illegal drugs with a search clause. The deputy searched the vehicle which Christie was in and discovered paperwork and property to the victim of the burglary on Babler Road the night before. The deputy detained Christie and then the deputy contacted the residents in the home Christie had parked in front of. They told the deputy Christie had stayed in their home the night before and allowed the deputy to search their home. Additional stolen property was located. The burglary victim from Babler Road responded to the scene and identified the stolen property.
Christie was arrested for residential burglary and possession of stolen property. He was transported and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where his bail was set at $50,000.00.
