On January 10, 2004 at about 1:35 PM Humboldt County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a report of an adult body floating in the ocean near Luffenholtz Beach, Trinidad. Sheriff's Deputies and Officers from the Trinidad Police Department found a deceased male in the waves and were able to recover the body. Due to the extreme slope from the ocean to the roadway, the US Coast Guard was called for assistance. With the aid of the Coast Guard, the body was successfully airlifted and flown to the Arcata Airport, Coast Guard Air Station.
Humboldt County Coroner Frank Jager identified the decedent as 19 year-old Robinson Martin. Mr. Martin had been reported missing on the morning of January 08, 2004.
