Location: North Jetty
On 3/28/04 at 1929 hours, deputies from the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office were notified of a 41 year-old male who had been washed off the North Jetty. The male was last seen by the reporting person, floating in the entrance to Humboldt Bay. It was reported the male subject was near the entrance edge of the jetty when a wave knocked him off his feet and into the rocks. The male then was washed into the bay and he appeared to be unconscious.
The US Coast Guard was summoned and launched a rescue boat and a helicopter to begin searching for the male. The identity of the missing male is not being released until family members can be notified. Additional news releases will follow with the status of this search and identity of the missing male.
