Released By: Brenda Gainey

Location: McKinleyville

Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputies have recovered the bicycle that was stolen yesterday from a Michigan fundraising duo. The investigation into the stolen bicycle led deputies to an apartment in McKinleyville this morning. There they found the bicycle and other personal items that Albert Brown had reported stolen the day before. However, still missing are two black and blue REI Explorer Pennier Packs.

Brown and his friend Ryan Connery plan to continue their fundraising effort of bicycling from California to Michigan, albeit a few days behind schedule. They will stay in Humboldt County awhile longer in hopes of recovering the remainder of their property that is still missing.

Deputies arrested Joseph Genaro Hernandez, 22 of McKinleyville early this morning. He was transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where he was booked on several charges that include possession of stolen property and possession of a controlled substance, both felonies. He is expected to be arraigned later this week.
