A Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputy arrested a man early this morning for possession of burglary tools and possession of a controlled substance. Shortly before 4:00 this morning, Deputy Ben Nord was on patrol when he saw two men walking around a business area of Myrtle Ave. Because of the early hour and because all the area businesses were closed, Deputy Nord contacted the two men. One of the men was on probation with a “search and seizure” clause. Deputy Nord searched the man, and found him to be in possession of burglary tools (a door punch which had been altered) and a suspected methamphetamine. The man, Nathan Aaron Ruptak, 22 of McKinleyville, was arrested and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility. His bail has been set at $20,000 and he is expected to be arraigned later this week.
