Location: McKinleyville

Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a McKinleyville man last night after finding him in possession of fifty-six grams of crystal methamphetamine. At about 10:15 pm, Deputies were in the 2300 block on Central Avenue in McKinleyville looking for man wanted for a parole violation. Deputies had seen the parolee run out of a residence a few minutes earlier and were continuing their search of the vicinity. Deputies contacted a man walking away from the area. Deputies saw the man, Wade Allen Lawson, 33, attempting to hide something in a nearby pile of aluminum cans. Deputies detained Lawson to determine his identification; he was not the parolee being sought.

While being detained, Lawson threw a small metal box to the ground. Inside the box deputies found prescription medication, concentrated cannabis, marijuana, and methamphetamine, and a glass smoking pipe. Deputies also found a large Ziploc bag hidden near the pile of aluminum cans. The bag contained 47.2 grams of methamphetamine. Deputies found an additional bag containing more methamphetamine. In all, deputies found 56 grams of methamphetamine.

Deputies arrested Lawson and transported him to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where he was booked on the following charges:
Possession of a Controlled Substance
Possession of a Controlled Substance for Sale
Possession of Marijuana
Possession of a Narcotic Drug
Possession of Concentrated Cannabis
Possession of Controlled Substance Paraphernalia
Probation Violation

Additionally, Lawson had a warrant for a previous conviction for possession of controlled substance paraphernalia in which he failed to commit himself to jail per a court order. Lawson is ineligible to bail due to the status of the warrant. He is expected to be arraigned by Friday.
