Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a man yesterday after finding almost eleven grams of suspected methamphetamine in his vehicle. At about 2:40 a.m. sheriff’s deputies conducted a traffic stop on pick-up truck for a vehicle code violation. After contacting the driver and his passenger, deputies determined that the passenger, Amber R. Ames, 28 of Eureka, had two warrants for her arrest. She was taken into custody without incident. Subsequent to Ames’ arrest, the driver of the truck, Jamie Lara, 46 of Eureka, gave his consent to deputies to search his vehicle. Deputies found almost eleven grams of suspected methamphetamine, a scale, and other drug paraphernalia.

Lara was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, transporting a controlled substance, and driving under the influence. His bail has been set at $25,000 and he is expected to be arraigned this afternoon.

Ames was arrested on her two outstanding warrants. The charges on her warrants included forgery, possession of a controlled substance, two counts of vehicle theft, and multiple counts of receiving stolen property. Her bail was set at $60,000 ($50,000 on one warrant, $10,000 on the second warrant). Ames was arraigned yesterday.
