Humboldt County Special Services Deputies, the Sheriff’s Posse, and personnel from the Carlotta Volunteer Fire Department conducted an extensive search near Shively last night after a timber faller was reported missing. At about 4:00 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office received a call when 55-year-old Graham March failed to return from his job. The U.S. Coast Guard attempted to assist in the search with a helicopter but low clouds and fog made it too dangerous. Rescuers on the ground were on foot and as well as on ATV’s. At about 11:15 last night, Mr. March was found near Root Creek, east of Swimmer’s Delight. Mr. March reported that he had become lost and was preparing to “hunker down” for the night. He was cold, hungry, still carrying his chainsaw, but otherwise uninjured.
