“Mike is a very well-rounded deputy and very community minded,” said Sheriff Philp. “I know in his role as Undersheriff he will be a very positive leader in our office and to the citizens of Humboldt County.”

He has been married to his wife Annette for 25 years and they have six children ranging in age from 9 to 25 years. In his off time, Undersheriff Downey is very involved in church activities and enjoys working with wood, backpacking and spending time with his family.
