Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a Eureka man early yesterday morning after a finding him in possession of nearly 23 grams of suspected tar heroin. Shortly after midnight Wednesday, deputies were conducting a vehicle investigation near Buhne Drive and Halibut Street. The passenger in the vehicle, Vincente Espinoza Lopez, 33, stepped out of the car and deputies saw him throw an object. Deputies detained Lopez, retrieved the thrown object, and discovered it to be the suspected heroin.
Lopez was arrested and transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where he was booked for possession of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance for sales. Additionally, Lopez has a warrant out of Orange County for possession of a controlled substance. He is expected to be arraigned on Friday. The driver of vehicle was release at the scene.
