At about 8:00 p.m. Wednesday night, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a robbery at Roger’s Market on School Road in McKinleyville. It was reported that three subjects had entered the business and taken the money from the cash register. The two clerks on duty at the store had been sprayed in the face with pepper spray during the robbery. It was also reported that one of the suspects had pointed a handgun at one of the victims during the robbery.
As deputies were responding to the scene, dispatchers issued a description of a vehicle believed to be occupied by the suspects in the robbery. A deputy saw the vehicle and began to follow it. The driver of the vehicle accelerated and attempted to evade deputy. The driver turned his vehicle around and drove directly towards the deputy’s vehicle, causing the deputy to have to move to avoid being hit.
The deputy continued to follow the vehicle onto Thiel Avenue where the suspect’s vehicle jumped the curb and came to rest on a pile of gravel. The sheriff’s deputy saw a subject leave the vehicle and run. The deputy approached the vehicle and found one occupant still inside. That person, Mandi Denise Jackson, 30 of Eureka, was taken into custody. Inside the vehicle, deputies located a loaded 9mm handgun.
Sheriff’s Deputies, California Highway Patrol Officers, and an Arcata Police K-9 Unit searched the area for the suspect who fled but were unable to locate anyone.
During the subsequent investigation, it was determined that two individuals had likely fled the vehicle. The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office is looking for the following individuals in connection with last night’s robbery:
Jason Ryan Omholt, 28 years-old, blond hair, hazel eyes, 5’8” tall, and 155 pounds. Olmolt was last seen wearing dark blue hooded pullover sweatshirt and jeans.
Zachary Cruz Cook, 17 years-old, shaved head, brown eyes, 5’9” tall, and 190 pounds. Cook was last seen wearing a royal blue hooded pullover sweatshirt and jeans.
Both individuals are considered dangerous and anyone with information about Cook or Omholt should call the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office at (707)445-7251.
Mandi D. Jackson, the female who deputies apprehended after the vehicle pursuit, was arrested. She was transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility and booked for Conspiracy and Robbery. Her bail has been set at $50,000 and is expected to be arraigned on Friday.
