The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office is releasing the names the of the two injured men connected with the Alderpoint shooting:
Larry Ray Wellman, 57 and transient, was shot multiple times during the October 14th incident. He remains in critical condition at a Redding hospital.
James Franklin Harrison, 54 of Miranda, who had been assaulted at the same location, was released from a Redding hospital last Friday.
Sheriff’s Detectives had been attempting to locate Cameron Daubner since the shooting. They were able to interview Mr. Daubner this afternoon in Eureka.
Witness statements indicate that during the overnight hours of October 13th, about five people were drinking heavily at a residence in Alderpoint. Witnesses stated that during the night Larry Wellman assaulted James Harrison several times. At about 4:30 a.m. on October 14th, Harrison shot Wellman four times with a .22 caliber rifle.
The case will be forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office to determine what, if any, charges will be filed.
