Location: Humboldt County

In light of the recent spring weather, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office is reminding the public to be careful about leaving valuables in unattended vehicles. As more people choose to enjoy our recreational areas such as beaches and trails, cars are left unattended in parking lots and trailheads.

Car burglaries are frequently crimes of opportunity and simply locking one’s vehicle may not be enough to deter a burglar. The public is reminded to remove all valuables (such as purses, cameras, and electronic equipment) from the passenger compartment. If one needs to store valuables in a vehicle, please take a few extra moments and secure them in the vehicle’s trunk.
