At about 1:07 a.m. Tuesday morning, Sheriff Deputies were dispatched to a reported gun shot victim at the Widow White trailer park (the 1000 block of Murray Road) in McKinleyville. Upon their arrival they discovered a 30-year-old white male lying outside of his travel trailer. Medical units arrived and confirmed the male was deceased. It appears the victim was shot by an unknown caliber handgun.

Witnesses have described hearing a vehicle pull up to the victim’s trailer and hearing a single gunshot. Witnesses then described the sound of a vehicle speeding away from the scene in an unknown direction. After hearing the gunshot, a witness checked the area and found the victim lying in the front porch area of his small travel trailer.

Sheriff’s Detectives are currently on scene along with Investigators from the District Attorney’s Office. A crimanalist from the Department of Justice responded to scene to assist with evidence collection and the processing of the crime scene.
