Location: Eureka

The investigation into the homicide of a man found dead in Hoopa Thursday evening is continuing. At about 10:15 last night (Friday), a Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputy was on patrol and spotted the gray Nissan Frontier truck being sought in connection with this case. The deputy conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Church and California Streets in Eureka. The driver of the truck, Rodney Allen Donahue Jr., 23 of Hoopa, was arrested and transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility. He was booked for vehicle theft, impersonating another, false identification to a peace officer, and driving on a suspended license. His bail was set at $40,000 and he is expected to be arraigned by Wednesday.

As released earlier, Detectives were looking for the truck with the possibility that it was associated with the victim. Sheriff’s Detectives are continuing to investigate that connection. The victim has not been positively identified; an autopsy is scheduled for next week.

Anyone with information about his case should call Detective Steve Quenell or Detective Rich Schlesiger at (707) 445-7251.
