McKinleyville High School went into lockdown briefly this morning after the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a man brandishing a handgun a few blocks away. Shortly after 8:00 a.m. a man at a residence on Haven Lane reported heard a knock at his door. He asked who was knocking and a man replied, “Billy.” The reporting man said upon opening his door he saw a man standing on his porch pointing a gun at him. He said he slammed his door shut and the suspect ran from his residence. Deputies responded to the area to investigate while the School Resource Officer at McKinleyville High School informed the administration of the event. The school was placed in lockdown at about 8:15. Deputies searched several blocks surrounding Haven Lane but were unable to locate the suspect. The school was taken out of lockdown at about 8:40 a.m.
