Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a Eureka man this morning after finding him in possession of nearly nine grams of crack cocaine. At about 8:15 a.m. Deputies Jamie Barney and Jason Thatcher were on patrol near Lafayette Elementary School in Eureka. A vehicle pulled away from the school after dropping a child off when deputies saw a vehicle code violation. They conducted a traffic stop and discovered the driver, Dallas Achane, 25, was on parole. They conducted a search of Achane per the terms of his parole and found he was carrying 8.9 grams of crack cocaine in one of his pockets. The crack cocaine was contained in 11 separate plastic baggies. Deputies also found a knife with an 11 inch blade in the car, a violation of Achane’s parole conditions.
Deputies Barney and Thatcher arrested Achane and transported him to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where he was booked for charges that included possession of a narcotic controlled substance, possession of a narcotic controlled substance for sale, transportation of a narcotic controlled substance, and a parole violation. He is expected to be arraigned by Friday; he is not eligible to post bail due to his parole status.
