A Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputy arrested a McKinleyville man last night after the man ran from the deputy and then was caught with several drugs and a weapon. At about 9:00 last night a deputy was on patrol and saw a vehicle fail to stay in its lane, crossing into oncoming lanes several times. The deputy initiated a traffic stop with the vehicle yielding at the intersection of Fieldbrook Road and Glendale Drive in McKinleyville. A passenger immediately exited the vehicle and ran toward the tree-line. The deputy followed the suspect into the woods, yelling for the man to stop. The suspect, later identified as Jeremy John Cringle, 32, continued through berry briars and shrubbery with the deputy still pursuing. The deputy caught up to Cringle and detained him in handcuffs. The deputy returned to his patrol car with Cringle and found him to be in possession of methamphetamine, marijuana, oxycontin, packaging materials, and homemade “brass knuckles.” Cringle was also found to have three outstanding warrants for his arrest, all drug related.
Cringle was transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where he was booked for possession of a deadly weapon, possession of a controlled substance for sale, transportation of a controlled substance, and resisting/obstructing arrest. He was also booked for his three warrants. All three warrants indicate he is not eligible to post bail. He is expected to be arraigned by Thursday.
