Case No#: 201004192
Released By: Brenda Godsey

Location: Blue Lake

After a brief pursuit, Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a woman after she crashed the stolen car she was driving. Late Saturday night, a deputy on patrol in Blue Lake attempted to stop a car after the driver failed to stop at a stop sign. The driver failed to yield for the deputy and accelerated away from him. The driver, later identified at Willow Rose Mace, 28 of Eureka, continued to accelerate until she lost control of her vehicle on Maple Creek Road. The vehicle - which had been reported stolen from Arcata - came to rest in a ditch on the right-hand side of the roadway. Mace was able to open the driver’s door and ran across the road into the nearby brush. The deputy pursued her on foot and caught Mace after she ran down a steep embankment. Mace continued to fight with the deputy until he placed her in handcuffs. Mace was found to be in possession of .33 grams of suspected methamphetamine.

Inside the vehicle, deputies found two walkie-talkies, burglary tools (pry bar, screw drivers, altered keys), and latex gloves.

Mace was transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility where she was booked for auto theft, evasion of a peace office, possession of stolen property, possession of burglary tools, resisting arrest, battery on a peace officer, and possession of a controlled substance. Mace was also booked for violating the terms of her parole. She is expected to be arraigned by Wednesday.
