A Eureka man was arrested early this morning after a Sheriff’s Deputy found him in possession of more than a gram of methamphetamine. At about 4:00 this morning a deputy was on patrol when he was flagged down by Daniel Silva, 26. Silva asked to use the deputy’s cellular telephone and the deputy recognized that Silva showed signs and symptoms of being under the influence of a controlled substance. Through a wants/warrants check, the deputy learned that Silva had several outstanding warrants for his arrest. The deputy placed Silva under arrest and conducted a search of Silva. The deputy found Silva to be in possession of 1.3 grams of methamphetamine, a glass pipe used to smoke methamphetamine, and a small amount of marijuana. Silva was transported to the Humboldt County Correctional facility where he was booked for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana. He was also booked on his outstanding warrants (primarily traffic violations). His bail was set at $36,000 and his is expected to be arraigned by Tuesday.
