Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested two men yesterday evening in connection to a robbery that occurred minutes before. Shortly before 7 p.m., deputies responded to a reported robbery that had occurred at a Manila residence. The victim told deputies he had been assaulted and that the suspects had stolen the two necklaces he had been wearing. Deputies learned that the victim had been visiting acquaintances at a residence on the 1900 block of Park Street when he answered a knock at the door. The victim said he recognized the person who knocked as Preston Snider. The victim said Snider, 45 of Manila, asked him to step outside and he did. Upon stepping out of the house, the victim was assaulted by Snider and two other men. The victim reported he was knocked unconscious during the assault. When he awoke he discovered his two necklaces were gone.
Deputies were able to find the address of the residence where Snider was staying and contacted him there. Deputies arrested Snider without incident.
Also at the residence was Andy Savage, 45, who deputies learned was on probation with a search clause. Deputies searched the residence and found 16 firearms (5 pistols and 11 rifles/shotguns). Deputies also located 148 grams of psilocybin (hallucinogenic) mushrooms and a significant amount of ammunition. Deputies subsequently arrested Savage.
Both men were transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility. Snider was booked for robbery, conspiracy, battery causing serious injury, possession of a controlled substance, and a probation violation. Snider’s bail was set at $50,000.
Savage was booked for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, illegal possession of ammunition, possession of a controlled substance, and a probation violation. His bail was also set at $50,000. Both men are expected to be arraigned Friday.
