Location: McKinleyville

Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a McKinleyville man yesterday evening for burglary only minutes after receiving the report. At about 5 p.m. a witness reported seeing a man break into a car parked at Clam Beach. The witness provided deputies with description of the suspects and the vehicle they drove away in. About five minutes later a deputy in McKinleyville spotted the vehicle at a service station on Murray Rd. and detained the two occupants. Witnesses from Clam Beach arrived at the service station and positively identified the pair as the same two who had been involved in the vehicle burglary. After investigating further, deputies recovered a purse, credit cards, identification and other miscellaneous items that had been stolen during the vehicle burglary.

The suspects were identified as Daniel Jarrett, 24 of McKinleyville, and Megan Waterman, 26 of Loleta. Both suspects were on probation with a search clause. Deputies searched their vehicle and found hypodermic syringes, and small scale, and a “window punch” commonly used for breaking car windows.

Jarrett and Waterman were arrested and transported to the Humboldt County Correctional Facility. Jarrett was booked for burglary, possession of a hypodermic syringe, and a probation violation. Waterman was booked for possession of a hypodermic syringe.

The stolen property was returned to the victim.
