On 08-18-2012 at about 4:10 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office received a report of a missing dependant adult. Josephine Lynn Leiterman, age 22, was reported missing by her mother. Both subjects reside at 1895 Hansen Lane, Fortuna. Josephine was last seen on 08-17-2012 at about 11:00 p.m. when she went to bed. When her mother woke up at 7:00 a.m., she discovered that Josephine was no longer in the residence. Due to Josephine having a recent history of walking away from the residence, the family spent the day looking for her before contacting the Sheriff’s Office. Due to Josephine’s diminished mental capabilities the Sheriff’s Office is treating this as an at risk missing person.
Josephine Leiterman is described as 5’1” tall, 110 pounds, with blond short hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a white baggy sweatshirt with blue cutoff jean shorts. The last time she walked away from the residence she was found walking on the trails near Sandy Prairie Road, Fortuna.
The Sheriff’s Office does not have a current photograph of Josephine but hopes to obtain one from the family in the near future.
Members of the Sheriff’s Office Special Services Unit are currently in the area looking for Josephine. The Sheriff’s Office is requesting that anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Josephine Leiterman contact us immediately.
