Administers public assistance programs, including: CalWORKs TANF- Temporary Aid to Needy Families (formerly AFDC) Food Stamps Medi-Cal County Medical Services Program General Relief Directs social services programs, including: Child Welfare Services: Emergency Response Family Maintenance Family Reunification Permanency Planning Independent Living Services (ILS) And the emergency shelter for children In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) Adult Protective Services Directs employment services programs, including: Employment and Training Division Welfare-to-Work (formerly GAIN) Coordinates services with other public and private agencies; and reports to the Board of Supervisors.
