General Relief

The General Relief program is a county-funded general assistance program for indigent county residents which offers repayable benefits.

The program provides services to disabled GR recipients to assist with the processing of their applications for SSI/SSP. It will also assist with reconsiderations for those whose applications have been denied. This includes help in gathering medical/social/psychological/other information necessary to the application/redetermination.

Job Prep/Job Search Workshops: These workshops are designed to prepare clients for finding employment and to create and sharpen job-hunting skills. Attendance in the workshops is required for employable GR recipients. The workshops are led by a social worker trained in job search techniques.

A Social Worker also provides liaison and social services to the homeless shelter facilities in the Eureka area.
